Our leadership team bring decades of experience working within the mental health and addictions sector. They are committed to supporting people in Aotearoa living with addiction or mental health challenges to work towards wellbeing and a future they want.

 
 
 

Fiona Trevelyan, CEO, Tumuaki Rangatira

People first drew Fiona to her work at Odyssey in 2002. People – tāngata whai ora and staff - drew her back in 2016 for the role of CEO. Fiona loves how our pillars – trust, honesty, responsibility, concern, and love – are integral to everything we do, and part of the organisation’s DNA.

Besides working in the alcohol and other drug sector for many years, Fiona brings a life-long commitment to supporting stronger relationships among whānau and in communities. She believes our purpose is about connection to others.

 

Peter Sciascia, Pou Matua

Pete has whakapapa from Ngāti Kahungunu, Ngāti Porou, Ngāti Raukawa, Rangitāne, and Ngāi Tahu. Pete joined Odyssey in early 2021 as Kaiwhakahaere Tikanga and has now taken up the role of Pou Matua - Cultural Strategy and Relationships Lead. He has a strong background in Mātauranga Māori from working in Māori tertiary education spaces with te Wananga-o-Raukawa and Ngāi Tahu Iwi.

Jenny Boyle, General Manager, Operations

Jenny has led our 150-strong operations teams with verve and enthusiasm since 2014. Jenny brings years of experience in the mental health and addictions sector, having worked as a clinician and manager in a range of settings. Jenny loves making a positive difference for people and communities; working with an amazing team; and seeing new initiatives find success to deliver real impact across the community.

Dave Burnside, Lived Experience Lead

Dave has been with Odyssey since 2012, initially joining as a Peer Support Worker. Dave has completed post graduate studies in Mental Health and Addiction and Law and is involved in solution focused justice research with AUT. He is passionate about lived experience roles and Te Ao Māori approaches.

 
 

Lyndsay Fortune, General Manager, Organisational Development and Support

Lyndsay’s background is in occupational therapy, with years of leadership in mental health, addiction, and social services. Lyndsay is passionate about new opportunities, development, partnerships, and making a difference to people and their whānau.

CFO Glenn Manson
 

Glenn Manson, CFO

Glenn joined Odyssey in 2017.  He honed his commercial skills and held senior management positions in a variety of sectors, including health, freight, retail, and construction.

Calm and pragmatic, Glenn supports the sustainable delivery of our services, placing tāngata whai ora and their needs at the centre of every financial decision. He works to ensure Odyssey gets maximum value from its spending to support people in the best way possible.

Chair, Pat Snedden
 

Pat Snedden, Chair

Pat has chaired Counties and Auckland District Health Boards, Housing New Zealand Corporation, and the Manaiakalani Education Trust. Pat was a director of Watercare, a trustee of the ASB Community Trusts, and a founding director of Mai FM. He has been a treaty negotiator for over 35 years, both for iwi and the Crown. In 2018 Pat was awarded the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to education and to Māori.

 

Manu Sione, Deputy Chair

Manu is of Māori (Ngāti Whātua, Te Taou, Te Uri o Hau), Samoan and Cook Island (Pukapuka) descent. He has worked in executive roles in health, social services, counselling and the justice sectors throughout Aotearoa and overseas. More recently Manu has worked with organisations to strategise, engage and deliver quality cultural services to and with Māori and Pasifika communities. Manu joined the Odyssey Board in July 2020. 

 
 

Darren Johnson, Treasurer

Darren is a Chartered Accountant and a partner with Deloitte. Darren joined the Odyssey Board in September 2014 and is currently Treasurer.

 

Dr Huhana Hickey

Dr Huhana Hickey (MNZM) (Ngāti Tāhinga, Whakatōhea) is an academic and disability rights lawyer. She has multiple sclerosis, was the first openly disabled Housing NZ board member, and is an unflinching advocate for whānau hauā and all disabled people. She has extensive experience with various community groups, trusts, Crown entities, management, and committees. Huhana joined the Odyssey Board in December 2020.

 
 

Maraea Mokaraka

Maraea is of Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei, Tainui, Te Arawa, and Ngā Puhi descent. She is a bi-cultural social worker and supervisor, and alcohol and other drug clinician. Maraea provides well-being workshops to rangatahi in schools and volunteers her time in Ōtara, providing a safe interactive space for rangatahi to kōrero and support one another. Maraea is working on a project with Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei to support whānau who are impacted by substance use and mental health challenges. Maraea is a Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei whānau representative on the Odyssey board.

 
 
 

Tui Kaumoana

Tui (Waikato, Ngāti Maniapoto) is an ethicist, māmā, wife and grandmother. She is Kaiārahi at UniServices, the investment arm of the University of Auckland/Waipapa Taumata Rau. Her role is to ensure culturally safe environments are provided for all staff, students, and external partners that interact with her sector. Tui is an advocate for mental health and wellbeing with a strong focus on rangatahi suicide prevention and intervention.

 

Dr Erena Wikaire

Dr Erena Wikaire (Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Hine, Te Hikutu, Te Kapotai) is a Kaupapa Māori Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi. Her research applies a kaupapa Māori lens to Māori engagement with cannabis and methamphetamine. Her PhD focused on renormalising Rongoā Māori. Erena co-authored the Nōku te Ao report "Sovereignty of the Māori Mind" which provides a Māori worldview of mental health discrimination and prejudice. Erena is also Director of Te Ramaroa and was recently appointed to the Council of The Royal Society Te Aparangi. Her ongoing research interests include Rongoā Māori, indigenous healing systems, health inequities, and mental health. Erena joined the Board in 2020.

 
 

Jessica Apanui

Jess (Ngāti Porou) is an advocate for whānau with lived experience. Jess has recently been appointed to Regional Lived Experience Lead – Northern Oranga Hinengaro for Te Aka Whai Ora. Having 25 years lived experience with drugs and alcohol and having been on her recovery journey for five years now, Jess is dedicated to being a positive role model and voice for those who are struggling with addiction. Jess documents her journey on her Facebook page, LBM (Life Beyond Meth), with over 13,000 followers.

 

Dr Clive Bensemann

Clive attended the University of Otago medical school before training as a General Practitioner and then as a Psychiatrist. He has worked clinically for more than 25 years in Adult and Older Adult mental health and addictions services. He was previously Director of Mental Health and Addictions services at Waikato and then Auckland DHBs. Clive joined the Board in May 2017.
